Many folks in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community struggle to access safe, relevant, and adequate care. Often the care is there and available, but navigating how to cut through the red tape and get to it can be stressful and time-consuming - especially on top of everything else that you have going on.
Worrying about what questions to ask, figuring out which forms to fill out, wondering about whether you are choosing the right options, or scheduling appointments can be overwhelming.
That’s why we’re offering a 2SLGBTQIA+ Health Navigator service for our queer and trans community. Our Health Navigator is here to support you in accessing the care you need and the information you are looking for so that you can make decisions that fit your life.

Our Health Navigator is available to support:
All Yukon communities can access support for health navigation. The Health Navigator is currently based in Whitehorse, but they can meet with folks outside of Whitehorse via online, phone, or email. If you are from a community other than Whitehorse and require in person assistance, let us know in advance; We will do our best to accommodate you with the resources and capacity we have.

General Support for 2SLGBTQIA+ folks
This service is for 2sLGBTQIA+ folks who have general questions about accessing different services within the Health System and community resources, want accompaniment to appointments, need medical care and don’t know where to go, and other such inquiries.

2SLGBTQIA+ folks who are new to the Yukon
This service is for 2sLGBTQIA+ individuals who have recently moved to the Yukon. We can help you understand provincial healthcare coverage, eligibility, and the necessary steps to secure healthcare for you and your family. This might include: accessing a Health Care Card, finding medical services in your area, registering to lists to find a primary care provider, accessing mental health support, understanding what is covered, etc.
This service is for 2sLGBTQIA+ individuals who have recently moved to the Yukon. We can help you understand provincial healthcare coverage, eligibility, and the necessary steps to secure healthcare for you and your family. This might include: accessing a Health Care Card, finding medical services in your area, registering to lists to find a primary care provider, accessing mental health support, understanding what is covered, etc.
Information and referrals for gender-affirming care
We can support individuals and family members in understanding the steps and the referral pathways at every stage in accessing Gender-Affirming care, including hormone therapy, gender-affirming surgery, and legal transition.
