Women and Gender Equality Canada’s 2SLGBTQI+ Secretariat is please to provide you with the first 2SLGBTQI+ Action Plan Progress Report

Women and Gender Equality Canada’s 2SLGBTQI+ Secretariat is please to provide you with the first 2SLGBTQI+ Action Plan Progress Report (attached), highlighting the Government of Canada’s progress to implement the Action Plan over its first 18 months.

English 2SLGBTQI+ Action Plan Progress Report- WAGE
French 2SLGBTQI+ Action Plan Progress Report-WAGE

This Report provides an overview of the Government of Canada’s work from August 28, 2022 to March 31, 2024 to advance 2SLGBTQI+ equality in Canada and around the world through the Action Plan’s six priority areas (note that the Government of Canada’s fiscal year ends on March 31 of a calendar year).

Our work continues. Since April 1, 2024, the Government of Canada has made additional efforts to implement the Action Plan, such as:

  • Signing and announcing of agreements from the 2SLGBTQI+ Community Capacity Fund and 2SLGBTQI+ Projects Fund Calls for Proposals, supporting organizations across Canada working to make change;

  • Launching the Anti-2SLGBTQI+ Stigma Awareness Campaign –Unity - Canada.ca, demonstrating the power of strong allyship; and,

  • Launching an intersectional community-based research call for proposals to gather on the ground knowledge and evidence that helps shape policy and programming.

While the work of the Action Plan continues, I am heartened to see all the effort being done across Canada to create more opportunities and protections for 2SLGBTQI+ communities.

Best regards,
